With the enforcement of the reform and opening policy, the forwarding
industry is developing rapidly in China. With its founding in September 1992,
SIFFA is among one of the earliest established forwarders associations in
mainland, China. For the past 10 years, SIFFA has followed the motif of
"guidance, service, coordination, protection" for its memberships. SIFFA also
assists the related government authorities in the administration and the
supervision of the forwarding industry. Its objectives are to maintain the fair
orders of business operations in the forwarding market, promote research in the
future development, reflect the requests of the industry so as to guard the
benefits of forwarding enterprises, provide training programs for personnel
serving the industry, and co-ordinate within and outside the industry to enhance
its smooth development. The number of SIFFA members has grown from 29 at its
foundation to 294 at its tenth anniversary. The coverage of memberships makes up
around 80% of the enterprises in the industry. ĦĦĦĦSIFFA always endeavors to
improve the quality of its services, and sticks to the principle of "Serving the
industry, Serving memberships". In consideration of the demand of the
development of the industry, SIFFA has adjusted itself to establish the
organization in a hierarchical order: membership to council and then to standing
council. There are six working committees under SIFFA in the areas of Law,
Standard Service, IT Application, Discipline of the Industry, Removal Business
and NVOCC Business. SIFFA encourages its memberships qualifying for ISO 9001
certificate, to make forwarding services competitive to meet the international
standard. SIFFA tax-issue center has been established to assist its members in
adjusting to the changing situations in the field of finance and accounting.
Through its working practices and various business activities, SIFFA aims to
strengthen the abilities of memberships to cope with the market demand and
participate in the international competition, the aim of which is to promote the
development of the forwarding industry in china. With the progress being made
in the past ten years, SIFFA will grasp every opportunity to build shanghai into
an international shipping center, and will strive to create new glories for its
grand future.
