With the enforcement of the reform and opening policy, the forwarding industry is developing rapidly in China. With its founding in September 1992, SIFFA is among one of the earliest established forwarders associations in mainland, China. For the past 10 years, SIFFA has followed the motif of "guidance, service, coordination, protection" for its memberships. SIFFA also assists the related government authorities in the administration and the supervision of the forwarding industry. Its objectives are to maintain the fair orders of business operations in the forwarding market, promote research in the future development, reflect the requests of the industry so as to guard the benefits of forwarding enterprises, provide training programs for personnel serving the industry, and co-ordinate within and outside the industry to enhance its smooth development. The number of SIFFA members has grown from 29 at its foundation to 294 at its tenth anniversary. The coverage of memberships makes up around 80% of the enterprises in the industry.
ĦĦĦĦSIFFA always endeavors to improve the quality of its services, and sticks to the principle of "Serving the industry, Serving memberships". In consideration of the demand of the development of the industry, SIFFA has adjusted itself to establish the organization in a hierarchical order: membership to council and then to standing council. There are six working committees under SIFFA in the areas of Law, Standard Service, IT Application, Discipline of the Industry, Removal Business and NVOCC Business. SIFFA encourages its memberships qualifying for ISO 9001 certificate, to make forwarding services competitive to meet the international standard. SIFFA tax-issue center has been established to assist its members in adjusting to the changing situations in the field of finance and accounting. Through its working practices and various business activities, SIFFA aims to strengthen the abilities of memberships to cope with the market demand and participate in the international competition, the aim of which is to promote the development of the forwarding industry in china.
With the progress being made in the past ten years, SIFFA will grasp every opportunity to build shanghai into an international shipping center, and will strive to create new glories for its grand future.
